Providing Quality Water Today & Tomorrow

History

The Ward II Water District was created as a political subdivision of the Livingston Parish Police Jury in August of 1975 for the purpose of acquiring and improving a portion of the water system operated by a private corporation, the Greater Livingston Water Company.

By resolution, the Police Jury redefined the boundaries of the district and established the present day operations of its governing board, a five member body appointed by the Police Jury.

In March of 1977, the voters of the district approved a bond issue to purchase and improve the system. This included the laying of 45 miles of water mains.

In 1984 the district undertook a second improvement project, which included two new water wells, an elevated water storage tank north of the City of Walker, new water mains and an office building. Subsequent improvements and expansions have included a new water well and elevated water storage tank in the City of Watson area, numerous new water mains and land acquisitions for the future expansion. Ward II Water Company is an ever growing, integral part of Livingston Parish’s future.
