The Ward II Water District was created as a political subdivision of the Livingston Parish Police Jury in August of 1975 for the purpose of acquiring and improving a portion of the water system operated by a private corporation, the Greater Livingston Water Company.
By resolution, the Police Jury redefined the boundaries of the district and established the present-day operations of its governing board, a five-member body appointed by the Police Jury.
